Restraining a meltdown

Let me scream, let me go hoarse,

these emotions want to rip out through my body.

Crossing sounds and smells, yellow light shining in my eyes

and people all around

expecting me to speak in a calm manner

and diligently do my job.

My brain is on fire,

my mind just clinging to the vaguest comprehension of what I’m doing.

Voices turn into a babble my ears cannot take,

but I’m bound by this uniformed chain

to fulfill my role

so I keep my meltdown locked within.

A struggle covered over with a smile

that is kept from bursting out

from the fear of how they’ll react if

they see it fully formed.

Poetry

Path finder

You cradle the dragon against your chest,

shielding its sleeping form from the elements.

Walking proud

along sandy shores

that soak up your footprints

even as you make them.

Waves crash and swell,

music in its most natural fashion,

reaching

for the pull of your hand.

A friendly caress, an age old bond.

But it is not yet time to give in

and take its shelter,

Rocks must be overturned and mountains scaled.

The dragon already begins to stir

and it is still

far from home.

Poetry

That wobbling seed

I can hold your hand. I’m always here for you.

Yes, in your hour

of need

I’ll be watching

I’ll be waving

I’ll be waiting.

Let me take your hand, you know I’m here

always. For you.

That’s

the problem,┬áisn’t it?

You do know

it’s me

niggling

niggling

niggling

in your mind, casting those shadows

around you. Wait.

You think

I should be ashamed?

I’d say I’m rather proud of what I do.

You’d just take happiness

for granted

if I wasn’t here.
