Graphite under my nails,
smudges over my hands.
I’ve been sculpting with pencil
all to help understand
myself, and what my yellow-brick-road
is leading to, further than I can see,
it’s so far off that if I get there,
will I even be me?

We wouldn’t all fit in a bottle, some of us would
inevitably come tumbling back out the moment
the stopper was loosened. Flowers

so only those few who stumble, wakeful,
alive, at that hour, may appreciate them.

A simple mark of spilled ink
will never erase a broken heart.
Whose eyes look out from the page
two black dots
that carry so much more
than graphite or ink.
Flame red hair that makes her fellows flock to her
tugging, pulling on her ringlets
in place of flying into light.
Fluttering, her winged dress
blends with the coffee creams of her surroundings.
She is invisible to the untrained eye.
Hey everyone, I just wanted to announce that I’ve signed with a small online publisher for one of my middle-grade books, Unofficial Detective, the first book in my Half-Wizard Thordric trilogy (hopefully, they’ll take on books 2 and 3 as well). You can find an extract of it here.
It’s just going through the editing process now, but soon we’ll start working on cover design and layout, which I’m rather excited for.
Anyway, just thought I’d post a quick update – more news to follow!
